The overall Synod of the Anglican Church of Canada handed an initial movement in July 2016 to perform identical-intercourse marriages in their churches. The Anglican Church of Canada doesn't particularly prohibit identical-sex marriage. A May 2013 Ipsos poll of residents of sixteen international locations found that sixty three per cent of respondents in Canada have been in favour of similar-intercourse marriage and one other thirteen per cent supported other types of recognition for identical-sex couples. An April 2001 Environics Research Group survey confirmed that forty five per cent of Canadians supported identical-intercourse marriage (29 per cent "strongly" and 16 per cent "considerably"), whereas 41 per cent opposed (30 per cent "strongly" and 11 per cent "considerably"). The 2017 AmericasBarometer showed that 76 per cent of Canadians supported similar-intercourse marriage. When divided by age, younger folks have been overwhelmingly in support (eighty two per cent amongst 18-24-yr-olds and 86 per cent among 25-34-year-olds) and, whereas people over sixty five were much less likely to be in favour, same-sex marriage nonetheless enjoyed 66 per cent widespread help among individuals of that age group. A 2017 CROP poll confirmed that seventy four per cent of Canadians found it "nice that in Canada, two people of the identical intercourse can get married", while 26 per cent disagreed.
