Who has not felt, just after a very long, conflict between duty and inclination, when at final the perseverance has been shaped, and duty has been submitted to, not grudgingly, but from quite like to the Father of mercies, who on your own can choose what will inevitably promote the superior of his weak, erring, and brief-sighted creatures-from reverence for his holy laws, and from gratitude to the Saviour of mankind-who has not felt a unexpected impulse of thanksgiving and delight as they were enabled to make this choice, a springing up, as it had been, of the soul from the very low cares and entanglements of this world, to a greater and purer state of existence, where by the motives and feelings under which the alternative has been designed, will be appreciated and authorized, but where each inducement that could have been introduced forward to vindicate a various alternative, would have been turned down at the bar of eternal justice?
