We instantly started getting questions in regards to the stick. May an eagle carry twelve pounds? Was she carrying the stick, or was it actually falling as she held on to it? We've speculated quite a bit about how much weight eagles could carry, but I decided to skip the musing this time and ask some consultants. I ended up speaking with Professor Jim Grier (Grier has studied birds of prey extensively and owned a golden eagle), Brett Mandernack, Neil Rettig, Chuck Sindelar (a superb pal of Bob's who was deeply involved in bald eagle restoration), Jon Gerrard (who wrote The Bald Eagle: Haunts and Habits of a Wilderness Monarch with Gary Bortolotti), and Professor David Chook (among other issues, the creator of The Chicken Almanac, A Guide To Essential Facts and Figures of the World's Birds).
