In December 2022, the Respect for Marriage Act was signed into regulation, repealing DOMA and codifying the rights to each same-intercourse and interracial marriage beneath federal law. Unlike Mexico City's legislation, once identical-sex couples have registered in Coahuila, the state protects their rights irrespective of the place they reside within the nation. On 24 May 2017 the Constitutional Court in Taiwan dominated that very same-sex couples have a right to marry, and gave the legislature two years to amend Taiwanese marriage legal guidelines accordingly. Costa Rica's Constitutional Court subsequently ruled that very same-intercourse couples have to be allowed to marry, and gave the federal government a deadline of 26 May 2020, to make legislative modifications. With this ruling the federal government recognized identical-intercourse marriages performed by states that allowed identical-intercourse marriage. The Court in the United States v. Windsor case didn't, however, handle the constitutionality of DOMA Section 2, which allowed a state to deny recognition of similar-sex marriages granted in other states. On 26 June 2015, the US Supreme Court dominated that very same-sex marriage is a constitutional right beneath the 14th Amendment to the Constitution, thereby making same-intercourse marriage legal all through the United States.
