The sensory inputs of copulation have been proven to cause a reduction of publish-coital receptivity in females, referred to because the "copulation effect." Three layers of a neural circuit underlying this phenomenon were identified. Artificial activation of DAN-aSP13s has been proven to extend wakefulness. Whereas extended wakefulness leads to a rise in homeostatic sleep drive in ellipsoid body neurons that in flip is conveyed to dFB, it is hypothesized that an extended learning expertise generates a learning-dependent sleep drive that's transmitted to vFB. Moreover, the data suggest that sleep selling vFB neurons mediate a learning-dependent regulation of sleep that is distinct from the homeostatic control which is facilitated by dFB neurons. In contrast, the function of learning-dependent sleep is perhaps to facilitate memory consolidation by strengthening synaptic connections that had been engaged earlier throughout reminiscence acquisition. In distinction, the data introduced in this research suggest that activation of vFB neurons, though they activate DAN-aSP13s, do not promote wakefulness.
